Cinema Paradiso
One could say the film “Cinema Paradiso” by Giuseppe Tornatore tells its story based on my life. Growing up in a Greek village, I discovered my passion for film at six years of age. In the village cinema I used to watch the projectionist working as often as I could, and collected the film cuttings.
In the 60s, my parents, brother and I emigrated to Austria. Along with my possessions I brought with me my passion for film. With my first pay, that I earned as a male nurse, I bought my first film camera - a Super8.
Today, I have turned my hobby into a career and work as an independent film maker. Sometimes I turn my career into a hobby again, for example when I produce my own film ideas such as “Leaves in Autumn”.
